CultivateAI's deep understanding of Precision Agriculture, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and imagery data is backed by over 20 years of experience. The CultivateAI team knows first-hand how challenging it can be to sift through volumes of machine sensor data and process terabytes of drone imagery, and how quickly analytics get skewed: bad data in, bad results out. CultivateAI is here to simplify it.

That's why CultivateAI's team of agricultural software developers built a cloud-based system that handles agricultural data of all types: high-resolution RTK drone imagery, satellite imagery and machine sensor data. The team has designed and built GIS and Precision Agriculture software for small and large enterprises, and continually tests it on its own family farms. Since joining Gevo in 2024, CultivateAI has been cultivating a smarter, more sustainable future for agriculture, from the field, enabling farm-to-fuel traceability.

Company History

Two decades of Remote Sensing, GIS and Precision Agriculture: the journey that built CultivateAI.

  1. 2000–2017

The co-founders of CultivateAI spent their early careers in software development, GIS and remote sensing. Several worked at Space Imaging, using the first commercially available 1m satellite imagery for asset management and forestry applications. Several partners then co-founded Data Transfer Solutions (DTS), building transportation asset-management software with high-resolution satellite and aerial imagery, and spent 15 years in the precision agriculture space working with John Deere and numerous Farm Information Management Systems (FMIS).

  2. 2018

Provisional patent filed for spectral selection from remotely sensed imagery, a novel concept introducing AI and machine learning applied to remotely sensed imagery. The patent was issued in 2024.

  3. 2020

The company, Cultivate Agricultural Intelligence, was formed as an LLC in the State of Florida. It received a trademark for the brand CultivateAI, and software development started on the Grower web application, AgAssessor.

  4. 2021

Product Launch: Grower web application AgAssessor and CultivateAI Scouting, an in-field mobile application available on iOS and Android.

  5. 2022

Product Launch: Enterprise Portal and CultivateAI Animal Records mobile application available on iOS and Android. CultivateAI also launched its property map product for customers who wanted a personalized mobile application. The Cherrylake Farm Races app, free on iOS and Android, is one example, combining high-resolution drone imagery with detailed digital race maps.

  6. 2023

CultivateAI started to build Crop Insurance industry software solutions by conducting in-field replicated trials simulating wind damage in corn and began work with a large AIP (Approved Insurance Provider) to test the wind/hail damage solution with drone imagery.

  7. 2024

On September 30, 2024, CultivateAI was acquired by Gevo and began integrating with the Verity software platform to achieve a farm-to-fuel traceability solution. Software development and API integrations began.

  8. 2025

Verity Product Launch: Production Mass Balancing software, grower-facing applications and API partner integrations along with production testing of CultivateAI Crop Insurance solutions for hail damage, tree canopy extraction and boundary extraction.

  9. 2026

CultivateAI production launch of Crop Insurance solutions utilizing high resolution satellite imagery.
